Growing interest in exploring Ireland
A break closer to home continues to appeal—and the figures show an increase in domestic travel.
According to the CSO’s Household Travel Survey, Irish residents made 4.34 million overnight trips within Ireland between April and June 2026, up 3% on the same period last year. Nights away increased by 5% to 9.16 million, while spending reached approximately €967 million, an increase of almost 7%.
These figures cover domestic travel across all accommodation types, providing an encouraging backdrop for exploring Ireland by motorhome. From coastal routes and countryside stops to family adventures, a motorhome gives you the flexibility to visit several destinations with your accommodation travelling alongside you.

Toronto to Shannon flights for summer 2027
Air Canada has announced a new direct service between Toronto Pearson and Shannon, starting in June 2027 and operating three times a week through the summer season. Read the announcement from Shannon Airport.
For our Canadian friends considering motorhome hire in Ireland, this will be a lovely new way to begin the trip. Arrive into Shannon, collect your McRent motorhome from our Limerick base in Newcastle West, and take your time exploring the Wild Atlantic Way and the rest of the island.
Funnily enough, two members of our own team have Canadian travel plans, with Toronto and Vancouver on the itinerary both out of Dublin, but looking forward to that option out of . We are looking forward to their stories, and to welcoming more Canadian visitors in the other direction.

Explore our featured Rapido M96 Automatic
Our featured used motorhome is the 2021 Rapido M96 Automatic, an A-Class built on a Mercedes chassis with a 170 bhp engine. It is one to explore if you are looking for a comfortable motorhome for longer trips.
Inside, the rear island bed and front drop-down bed make good use of the space, while the separate shower area and Alde heating add to its appeal. The specification also includes an awning, solar panel and reversing camera.
The M96 has 41,329 km recorded, four travel belts and a 12-month warranty. It is built on a 4.5-tonne chassis; our sales team can talk you through the specification and suitability for your plans.

Winter storage and winterisation in Limerick
If your motorhome will be taking a break over winter, now is a good time to plan where it will stay and how it will be prepared for the colder months.
We have limited secure outdoor winter storage at Cara, with winterisation included.
Preparing the water system for cold weather is an important part of putting a motorhome away, and our team can take care of that as part of the storage service. A limited number of protective covers are also available.

Servicing and habitation checks can be arranged separately, so let us know if there is work you would like done while your vehicle is with us.
