Control unit for detecting charging operations in a 12 V on-board electrical system (engine running). If additional consumers are only to be switched on when the engine is running (the alternator supplies power) or if the on-board battery is to be charged via a cut-off relay by connecting the on-board and starter batteries together, then the D+ contact of the alternator is usually used to control a relay. However, this contact is often not accessible in the vehicle, no longer present in newer alternators, not available in a container body, or voltage-dependent control is generally required. The D+ simulator provides a solution here. It generates a corresponding signal, controlled by a voltage (e.g. from the starter battery), for a subsequent powerful (cut-off) relay. Further possible applications arise in the control of additional consumers that should only be activated when the battery is sufficiently charged, such as switching on an air conditioning system while driving or switching a refrigerator, cold storage box, or heating box to 12 V on-board operation. Intelligent voltage evaluation of the switching thresholds prevents incorrect activation during voltage dips or spikes. Dynamic threshold detection also prevents oscillation around the switching points when switching very large loads. The switching status is indicated by an LED. The electronics are protected against moisture, and the connection is made via a plug-in screw terminal in the rear terminal compartment. The switching output can handle 12 V/0.5 A, is short-circuit and overload-proof, and is a PNP type, positive output, with the load connected to ground.
