Who are Dethleffs?

Since its founding, Dethleffs caravans – and since 1983 also Dethleffs motorhomes – have been a reliable friend of the family as they combine high quality with modern style and consistently win over customers with unconventional ideas for all family members. In 2017, the company received a special attestation of it's reliability and quality in form of the German Fairness Prize for service quality, awarded by the news channel n-tv. 

Dethleffs developed the lightest caravan of its class with the prototype COCO, since families in particular desire a sustainable future and responsible use of resources. In addition, Dethleffs presented the first fully electronically-powered motorhome within the context of the vehicle study e.home.

Did you know that the caravan was invented in the Allgäu? In the heart of the picturesque Alpine foothills, between the mountains and Lake Constance, Arist Dethleffs constructed Germany’s first “camper car” for his family in 1931. To this day, the overwhelming majority of the models are manufactured in Isny. The rest are produced at one of their state-of-the-art partner factories in Germany.

Vehicle conversions by Dethleffs

At the Isny im Allgäu location, Dethleffs focuses on the development and manufacturing of motorhomes and caravans, while also producing professional and expertly crafted camping conversions for vans and urban vehicles for more than 17 years. At present, over 7,000 urban campers and camper vans roll off the production line each year under the Pössl and Crosscamp brands, including Dethleffs’ own models since summer 2021.
