Who are Sunlight?
Sunlight was launched in 2004 as an entry‑level brand within the Dethleffs family, and from the outset, it's been part of the Erwin Hymer Group—Europe’s leading recreational‑vehicle manufacturer. Based in southern Germany, Sunlight is built alongside Carado at the modern Capron factory in Neustadt/Sachsen—a purpose‑built plant capable of producing tens of thousands of vehicles annually.
As the “accessible adventure” sibling of Dethleffs, Sunlight shares many of the same standards for engineering and reliability, but with a fresher, more value‑oriented spirit.
It’s a brand designed for you to hit the road, not just park up and admire.
With camper‑vans, low‑profiles, up to roomy 6‑berth motorhomes, Sunlight covers all needs and budgets.
👫 And speaking of family: being born under the Dethleffs umbrella naturally makes Sunlight siblings with that brand, but both are united under the Erwin Hymer Group since the beginning and by extension part of Thor Industries since 2019.

Here at Cara, we’ve proudly been the sole agent for Sunlight in Ireland for over 16 years — a partnership built on trust, shared values, and a passion for adventure.
But did you know? We’re now flying the Sunlight flag across the water too! Our Cara UK location in Stone, Staffordshire (Cara Motorhomes & Caravans) is also an official Sunlight dealer, bringing the same commitment to quality and customer care to our growing UK base.
